Hoopers
Hoopers is a dog sport where the dog runs a course of hoops, tunnels and barrels. No jumping, no tight turns and no contact obstacles — the dog moves in flowing lines while the handler directs from a distance. That makes it unusually easy on the body, and open to young dogs, old dogs, and dogs that cannot do agility.
How it works
- The dog takes the obstacles in order: through the hoop, through the tunnel, around the barrel.
- The handler directs with voice and body language, often from a marked zone — distance work is the heart of the sport.
- The course should flow. Faults are taking the wrong obstacle or going the wrong way, not millimetres either side.
